My boyfriend told me something about Osama bin Laden, is it true?

He told me that the only reason that they are saying that Osama is dead is because it make president Obama look good so he can get re-elected because the elections are coming up. He also said that either Osama was already dead a long time ago or that he works for the United Stated the whole time. Could this all be true??
