How to be a competitive medical school applicant?

I'm currently a dual enrolled student with my high school and local community college and want to become a doctor (surgeon, actually). Unlike many people who do it for money (especially the money because now days, you can't do it for the money) or pride or some other motive, it's REALLY my passion. I love the science and medicine excites me. I will be going into my junior year this August and I already know I will be majoring in microbiology. I realize that even though it is early, the dual enrollment means I will graduate with an AA degree, so I will be cutting undergraduate school to two years instead of four. So to me, in need to prepare for medical school now. For all those who are currently in the system or are aspiring to be a doctor like me, what do I have to do to be a competitive applicant? What exactly should I do to make my application stand out and "wow" the application review board? Any suggestions for how I can begin preparing now would be helpful
